Elna ZZ 21C 1972 Star series Freearm

Found this on Ebay last week & it looked good for the money, so I took a chance. Arrived this morning in good (undamaged in the post) condition: ) The metal case helped a lot here. First look says all is good. Nothing stuck, controller is good & it turns over nicely under power. Just a few paint chips, mainly where it goes into its sturdy, steel case. Half the case also doubles as a flatbed, which is very cool IMO. One dealer on Ebay is selling a basic case like this for £90! I got the whole machine/case for £75 safely shipped; ) Got no accessories, attachments, manuals, but it's very nice overall. Just a few chips here & there. Will keep me interested for a while; ) 28/07/23 Gave it a quick clean & look over tonight. Motor spins over OK. Put a few spots of oil in the red holes & threaded it up. Then realised the hook is not rotating… So, it is the hook pinion drive or the cleated belt gone… I look later. Just looked & the cleated belt looks like new.

Thought at first his machine might be a Wertheim Superba, but it ain't: ) Didn't cost much though & it's very nice in my opinion. Ebay pic here as I first saw it: ) Came with a Coffin Case, with key, shuttle & bobbin. No apparent faults & no damage to the wooden case in transit happily. First look said very interesting. My pics below. After a quick clean with Babywipes. It's all about the flowers I say: ) Very close to immaculate. Machine turned over a little stiffly, but it may have been unused for a long time, so no problem.   Serial number is 2478815, which, if it were a Wertheim would date it to 1887! Was hopeful at first but soon realised it clearly isn't that early when you look at the bobbin winder... (You can hope?) Plain, undecorated faceplate but a good shuttle & bobbin. Sliding plates free. Bed gold decals a little dull, but mostly there. Not had a clean or service here. Hinge pins look unusual to me. I'm no expert with German machines

Singer 12K 1879 spares machine

Was looking for a couple of missing parts for my nice 1880 12K & I did find the parts on Ebay. Trouble was the chap wanted £45 + £5 shipping for it! I was missing the spoon bobbin thread guide + its little spring/guide. The item he was selling was the Bobbin Winder, but not even complete. So I left it there, but later came across a 1879 12K machine on a charity website, without a case & it looked scruffy & came with no guarantees! But it had my spoon-guide. I got it for £40 delivered: ) It arrived in 2 days & when I checked it over it had a broken hand crank, was a bit scruffy but had a shuttle & 3 bobbins & a very nice wooden base. Ebay pic above.  So I remove the spoon-guide & its little spring & fitted it to mine; )   Finished off my machine nicely : ) The point with the spoon guide is that you can use a 12K without the spoon guide, you just need a thread supply from above. Like a table thread stand. Mine is now as it was originally & I don't
