 I don't own this machine, but I'm currently looking for a similar one: ) Made in Japan in the late 1970s with iconic looks & is that little bit different from the conventional period sewing machines: ) It's a Zig Zag, but it's also got a rotary thread take up system which is/was different from the rest! Portable, compact, stylish & a brilliant design. I'm a big fan of the portable, compact Elna Lotus, but this machine takes the concept a stage further. Check the amazing separate lamp! The yellow & black colour scheme is eyecatchingly lovely also, IMO: )

Came across this machine on my favourite Ebay Charity site last weekend, placed a couple of cautious bids & won it for £28! I thought it looked old because of its 'leaf spring' type of upper tension & the decals looked good for its age. Never heard of 'The Williams' brand so I assumed it was a badged machine from a biggish manufacturer. (a common practice at the time) I did no other research on it prior to winning it. Ebay pic above. Looking in need of some TLC & mostly complete - hopefully with its shuttle! It's my first USA made machine so I was confident that I'd find some info on the Victorian Sweatshop forum ; ) Sure enough I learned within a couple of hours it is a New Home machine. Made in Orange, Massachusets. New England. This one is a long way from home here in Old England... Came across this interesting machine on Ebay last week. Looking in need of a little help: )  Ebay pics here, but it's on its way right now & I do look forward to seeing what I can do with it. It's 'jammed up' & the seller very sensibly left it as is: ) How could I resist? I'm assuming it has stripped one of its nylon gears at worst, but that's easily fixable & they are fine machines in good working order: ) More to come shortly...  Found this one online to replace my other, later, 1970 707 Minimatic which got damaged in the post... This one has the early suitcase style case in very nice order. The machine itself is also way better than average! Complete with most of its original equipment, including Accessory box with 6 feet, spare bobbins, Manual & original Bill of Sale, plus some other useful original labels, bills, etc. Ebay pic here which shows it as I first saw it & decided to bid. Since I've got 2 very interesting Bernina Minimatics I thought it would be interesting/educational to try an 830 Record. At the right price: )    I think I've found one. Comes with all the kit. Foot pedal/controller, cables, including the tray, several feet, 7 by the look, etc. in the Accessories Box, printed Manual, as well as original paperwork, flatbed slip on unit in a neat looking case. Seller says it has a 'slight fluctuation in speed when sewing'. Which may be/likely is a cracked plastic cog on the Camstack drive, or an issue with the controller. The cog is an easy fix, £20 for a replacement, as with my 707. I've gone for it anyway at £140 shipped. Should it be a disaster it'll get way more than the price parted. Feet get a minimum of £10 each, controller £50+, plus many other parts: ) I expect to get it working well though & I look forward getting a close look at it shortly.
