 A good friend came across this 99K recently & donated it to the cause: ) Cheers Ricky! Had many 99Ks before, but this is the first one with the knee lever that I have had my hands on. I'm very interested to try it running: ) It's in nice condition, but missing its bobbin cover/slide plate & the old, pre-war wiring needed replacing. Wiring is now done & it runs very well. Cover plate on its way. First stitching for many a year here:  The knee controller in its little prison looks like this. With the knee lever inserted it is quite sensitive & positive in use. From a controllable slow crawl to full speed. But it's easy to keep the speed constant anywhere in between low & high. It's way better than the Button Foot controller on a carpet...The actual lever looks quite crude, but it could be modified I reckon.

Came home with this 1950s Husqvarna/Viking Class 18 basic straight stitch machine on New Years Day 2023. (Also collected a nice Singer 431G) Thanks Neil! Complete, but missing its controller/foot pedal. Took a chance, like Abba did; ) I had a Sew-Tric motor/controller hidden away & it fits!!! Serendipity. It stitches as well. See above. Needs a good service & clean, but I know it will work 100% when I've finished with it: ) Motor fixing is not quite in line here. Will be soon.   This is my first Husqvarna, so it is interesting anyway. Looks to be in good order & just needs adjustments. It's been stored for many years. A good New Year project for me: ) This machine is now donated to Tools For Self Reliance . It can provide an income for a family in certain countries. How cool is that?

Won this item on Ebay.co.uk last night. 15:02:22  Take a chance sometimes & it all works out. That's my feelings with this one. A basic Lotus, but in good visual shape. Its story will be here, if you interested. Thanks to SJ. Nice to know its history & many thanks for taking the time to tell me.    18 Feb 2022 Long story short is that it arrived safely, via UPS, yesterday mid afternoon! Arrived before it was sent, almost. Had a good look at it, found no real issues, gave it a good service & it's stitching well this morning: ) Not up to full speed yet, but that's down to the Controller. (Culprit below, as found)  Only 2 out of  7 contacts have been working for years by the look of it. (The shiny 2) Possibly No 6 at times. The Unit hasn't been exposed since new, I'd wager. Serial Number says 1969/70, so after 50+ years of use, it's done well anyway. I've cleaned up the contacts & it is better now, but not as it should be. Need a closer look at...

Always liked to try something different & I came across this Lotus SP recently in an online Charity/Thrift Shop.  I have no previous experience with these machines, & I generally avoid 'plastic'/'computerised' SMs. But the Lotus machines were a Design Classic IMO. Way ahead of their time as a quality, super compact, portable machine. MoMA says so too : ) I'm enjoying learning about it, but not finding much detail online. Yet. Looked in good order, but missing its foot controller... Took a chance & got it for under £30, delivered safely: ) That's a feat these days, isn't it? Very pleased when I had it in front of me. Excellent cosmetics, nothing broken, just a little stiffness turning over. A good oiling & service should fix that. Found a spares machine, with a controller, on Ebay which should enable this one to work properly & have an almost complete machine as spares: ) That's the plan anyway.     Later... Latest temptation is this appealing 12K. New to me but looks good?     The case looks good too. I collect it tomorrow, 12th December, & hope it is as good as it looks. Sellers pics above. Mine below. 13/12/21 Gave it a closer look today. Quick clean, lubrication, threaded up, sewed very well. The decals are 98%, the brightwork needs a clean.   The black paint is very nice with just some minor chips on the front middle edge. The spoon bobbin thread guide is missing here, as well as its spring.  Meanwhile it just needs a thread feed from above to work? Recent Ebay find is this 1889 Singer VS3 hand crank machine. This is the predecessor to the 28 series machines. Showing much use, but looks interesting to me: )  I was looking for a hand crank for my 1888 Singer IF, & it may fit. Even if it doesn't,  (It doesn't; ) this one looks like it only needs a little TLC to do its job again. 130 years later. How cool is that? Had some minor problems on delivery. Damaged case & base... The flimsy cable tie was not sufficient to hold 25lbs of cast iron to the wooden base during shipping... Needed the Coffee here. It is not easy to pack a vintage sewing machine to survive modern shipping methods... Above is the proof. However it is a deserving machine & I'll get it running well for someone: ) Today, 17 December, its new shuttle carrier arrived & I can now get on with it. I want to get it stitching before spending any time cleaning it up. Fitting the new shuttle cradle did not solve the problem. Only when I tried another ...

Had this machine for a good while with little use. Centennials are from 1951, mostly. This one has SN EG043209 which = late 1950, so it looks genuine. Almost perfect cosmetically. One chip above the Singe R & another at 10 o'clock from it. Very cool else. Stitches well but the motor is a little slow. Probably the controller, but I haven't tried another yet. It's getting a service/checkover currently pre Ebay listing. All my non Slants are going soon, & this is one of them: ) Love the 99Ks & this is a good one in its original Mock Croc case.   The 99Ks are never rare in UK, but in fine condition they are uncommon: ) This one is uncommon; )
